The amount of investigation on site can be reduced, incases a type test at the manufacturer’s site (7.6.1) was done forthe washer in advance.Random inspection, recommended on a yearly basis (pleaserefer to table 7.7).Inspection on site after process-interfering repairs, programchanges, changes in process chemicals or in items for processing.The AK KAB recommends to select exclusively type tested washers only, in order to avoid the purchase ofnone suitable washers. In addition AK KAB points out that washers should be periodically inspected (extraordinaryif necessary) on site, to guarantee a safe operating after installation.7.6.1 Tests at the manufacturer’s site (type test)The tests performed at the manufacturer’s should imply a testing of the washing performance (please refer to7.2.1 and 7.2.2), decontamination performance (please refer to 7.2.1 and 7.2.3), rinsing performance (pleaserefer to 7.4) and drying performance (please refer to 7.5).56Cage Processing in Animal Facilities · 4th issue · 2013

The testbottles must then be placed in critical spots with regard to machine type, spraying geometry, loading configuration,etc.7.6.2 Test after assemblyTesting a washer after assembly is up to the customer. When choosing to test, the customer should implementthe same test procedure as when testing the machine at the manufacturer’s (please refer to 7.6.1), only byusing the utilities on-site.
