The data shows that the percentage of population withchronic diseases has increased compared to 2000 and 2006. The percentage of individuals aged 18 years and over withat least one chronic disease and receiving treatment is about 18 percent in <strong>2010</strong> compared to 12 percent in 2006, andis higher among females than males; about 20 percent and 16 percent respectively.Figure PH.1: Population aged 18 years and above with chronic diseasePercentage of Population Aged 18 Years and Above With a Chronic Disease by Sex, State of Palestine 2000, 2006 and<strong>2010</strong>Table PH.1 shows the percentages of individuals with chronic diseases. The results indicate that the highest percentageis for individuals with hypertension eight percent; six percent among males and 10 percent among females in <strong>2010</strong>. Thesecond highest percentage is for individuals with diabetes about six percent of the population affected; five percentamong males and seven percent among females. The percentage of population with chronic diseases is higher in theWest Bank population than the population in Gaza Strip. (Table PH6).19
