At age 12-15 months,about 54 percent of the children are breastfed at the one year, while this percentage is 13 percent for children aged20-23 months. It is also observed that the incidence of exclusive breastfeeding increases with higher levels of mother’seducation; the percentage among children their mother’s education is secondary and above is 31 percent compared to13 percent among children their mother’s education is non any level.Table NU.4 shows the median duration of breastfeeding by selected background characteristics. Among children underage 3, the median duration is 14 months for any breastfeeding, one month for exclusive breastfeeding, and twomonth for predominant breastfeeding. The data indicates that the median was lowest in Jerusalem and Bethlehemgovernorates (12 months) and generally similar in the other governorates (about 14 months), breastfeeding median ishigher among males 15 months compared to 14 months among females. The mean duration for any breastfeeding is14 months, two month for exclusive breastfeeding, and four months for predominant breastfeeding35
