DEMONwhen struck. On its face, a draudnu has a bloody red eyewhere its mouth should be.Alignment: Draudnus are born without an ounce ofkindness, wild with a thirst for vengeance and bloodshed. They are always chaotic evil.SocietyDraudnus were created to hunt and to kill. These fiends goforth bent on murder, filled with a hatred of all creaturesexcept obyriths. They mercilessly slay anything they can, especially the minions of Baphomet on the 600th layer ofthe Abyss, reveling in destruction and bloody torment. Bornfrom the corruption of the remains of celestials, they retainlittle of the memories and none of the harmonious virtuesof their former selves. They fear only their ancient mother,Pale Night.Typical TreasureDraudnus have no use for wealth, treasure, or anything ofthe kind. They have none.Draudnus in EberronXoriat, the Realm of Madness, is home to the obyriths ofEberron. Although a great and varied number of creaturescall this plane home, none so accurately reflect its characterlike this race of demons. Divorced from the constantscheming of the daelkyr, free from the machinations ofthe kaorti, obyriths stalk the dim places, destroying anywho cross their paths. Even the potent daelkyr accordthese odd fiends respect and have been known to usethem as go-betweens when treating with their inexplicablemasters.Draudnus in FaerûnDemonologists in Faerûn speculate that obyriths predatedthe existence of the tanar’ri in the Abyss, but during aterrifying rebellion, they were nearly driven to extinction. For eons they have lurked on the fringes, watching theirrightful home being torn asunder by the legions of tanar’riin their endless Blood War. But it is fast becoming clear, with the sudden resurgence of these ancient fiends, thatthe obyriths are no longer content to wait and watch, foran army gathers in the Barrens of Doom and Despair. Thisarmy, made up of horrors that defy description, mustersunder the fiery sky, and the most numerous of all in theranks are the draudnus.GADACROA creature that looks like a bat-winged child with purple skindives from the air, its black talons stretching out for your eyes.A necklace that appears to be fashioned from eyeballs danglesabout its neck.Gadacro CR 3Always CE Small outsider (chaotic, evil, extraplanar, tanar’ri)Init +4; Senses darkvision 120 ft., superior low-light vision;Listen +7, Spot +11Languages Abyssal, Celestial, Draconic; telepathy 100 ft.AC 15, touch 15, flat-footed 11(+1 size, +4 Dex)hp 26 (4 HD); DR 5/cold iron or good; sudden escapeImmune electricity, poisonResist acid 10, cold 10, fire 10Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +4Speed 20 ft. If the battle turns against them, they fall backto use mirror image and summon tanar’ri to seemingly andliterally inflate their numbers.Sample EncounterGadacros are like carrion birds, following demonic hoststo pick off the stragglers or torment the survivors left in thewake of war. These demons collect in clutches of two to six,or murders of seven to twelve.Murder of Eyes (EL 9): A moderately skilled wizardfascinated with seeing and eyes discovered informationabout the gadacro in a codex he recently acquired. Fascinated,he engaged in a ritual designed to call and bindone of the creatures so he could study it. He botched theceremony, and a murder of nine gadacros burst throughthe brief rift to the Abyss created thereafter. The wizard’smanor contains enough other creatures that the gadacroshave been entertained, but one person who went to callon the wizard has disappeared, and a few creatures thatcould have come only from the wizard’s home have troubledthe town.EcologyDespite having no need for sustenance, gadacros crave theflesh of the living all the same. Specifically, they relish theirvictims’ eyes, preferably plucked from the skull of a victimthat still lives. Gadacros rarely agree on who among themshould have the right to eat the tastiest bits.GadacroEnvironment: Gadacros can be found anywhere inthe Infinite Layers of the Abyss, though they are commonin the Screaming Peaks of Yeenoghu’s Realm onthe 422nd layer.pqqqqqqqqqrsGADACRO LORECharacters who have ranks in Knowledge (the planes) canlearn more about gadacros. When a character makes a successfulskill check, the following lore is revealed, including theinformation from lower DCs.Knowledge (the Planes)DC Result13 A demon from the Abyss, this creature is known asa gadacro. It is cowardly yet savage, and its talonsare deadly. This result reveals all outsider andtanar’ri traits.18 When a gadacro hits an opponent solidly, thatfoe goes temporarily blind. The demon can alsomake illusory duplicates of itself and bind flyingcreatures to the earth.23 Gadacros are hard to kill and extremely mobile. They can transport themselves away from dangerimmediately, and their scaly skin turns awaynormal weapons. Good-aligned or cold ironweapons can easily harm them.pqqqqqqqqqrsIllus. by Daarken27
