13. become knowledgeable about all available audio/visual aid equipment and librarymaterials and how to incorporate their use in the classroom;14. immediately learn the names of the students;15. prepare lesson plans one week in advance, submit to the cooperating teacher, andupload into the LiveText electronic portfolio;Physical Education <strong>Teaching</strong> Interns - prepare lesson plans one week in advance,submit to cooperating teacher who initials, and submit a copy to college supervisorprior to the week of teaching. Final copies will be placed in portfolio.All others – prepare lessons as described above.16. maintain in the portfolio reflections that include positive and negative feedback from thecooperating teacher and college supervisor;17. keep a log as directed by the <strong>Guidelines</strong>;18. observe <strong>for</strong> two days at appropriate rural, urban, and/or suburban school and completereports <strong>for</strong> electronic portfolio using the <strong>for</strong>m in the Appendix.19. to avoid grade penalty, submit <strong>for</strong>ms and materials to <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong> promptly as directed;20. complete ADEPT process, including mid-term and final self-assessments (PhysicalEducation - use final and check list at each experience site; a mid-term evaluation areoptional at each experience site.21. complete a student intern inventory and submit it to the cooperating teacher prior tobeginning placement (Physical education interns - one per teacher);22. obtain the home phone number of the cooperating teacher, the college supervisor, andthe office number of the cooperating school; and23. organize and submit a complete electronic portfolio as specified in the <strong>Guidelines</strong>.B. Absences<strong>Student</strong> teaching interns are expected to be present in the cooperating school every dayand are required to follow the school district's holiday schedule rather than the college's holidayschedule. If it becomes necessary to be absent, intern MUST CONTACT via phone/email the (1)cooperating teacher, (2) college supervisor and (3) director of internships & field experiences.Absences should be only <strong>for</strong> illness, death in the immediate family, or direct involvement in oroccurrence of catastrophic events. Failure to notify the appropriate individuals will result indisciplinary action. Days missed must be made up so that sixty (60) full continuous days ofstudent teaching are completed as required by State law. If an intern is absent more than twodays, s/he must meet with the Director of <strong>Internship</strong>s & Field Experiences to assess her/hiscontinuation in EDUC 499/EDUC 520/PHED 499/HESS 620. <strong>The</strong> Director will be in closecommunication with the college supervisor and the cooperating teacher about the situation.C. Substitute <strong>Teaching</strong>/Employment by the School District<strong>Student</strong> teaching interns may not under any circumstances <strong>for</strong> any part of the schoolday be used as substitute teachers.
