credit information on commercial businesses and individuals<br />

and provide advice used in the credit approval process.<br />

VAT refund services VAT refund services are available to<br />

companies seeking to obtain value-added tax refunds from EU<br />

countries. Many companies are eligible for refunds on certain<br />

types of purchases but would rather avoid the extra administrative<br />

work.<br />

IT creates opportunities and meets increasing demands<br />

Developments in information technology allow us to be more effective and<br />

further improve our services. By automating various processes and procedures,<br />

we have been able to signifi cantly improve productivity in our contact<br />

centers. We are also increasingly using e-mail, text messaging and voice<br />

messages in our contacts with debtors. With automated calling and advanced<br />

voice recognition functions, more contacts can be handled each day and<br />

individual cases are managed more effectively.<br />

New, more sophisticated telecom and computer solutions are also creating<br />

greater interest in the services of CMS specialists. At the same time there<br />

is a growing demand for customized solutions, e.g., to transfer cases and<br />

access information. This is where our specially designed web solutions play<br />

an important role. The Internet is also growing in importance to data transfers<br />

by cutting lead times and improving collection effi ciency.<br />

We are therefore continuously updating our online tools and can offer a<br />

variety of sophisticated services in a number of key markets. Through the<br />

Fair Pay Web portal, clients have access to updated sales ledger information<br />

round the clock. They can also quickly and easily register new collection<br />

cases, leave messages for their account administrator and download various<br />

fi nancial reports in real time.<br />

REVENUES<br />

The largest part of <strong>Intrum</strong> <strong>Justitia</strong>’s revenues is generated from<br />

CMS services provided on a contingent basis. In 2005, 78 percent<br />

of revenues was generated from collection fees and<br />

commissions on collected amounts, while subscription fees<br />

accounted for four percent.<br />

National regulations and practices on the fees and expenses<br />

that can be charged for credit management vary. For this reason,<br />

commissions tend to account for a larger share of revenues in<br />

Southern Europe, while fees from clients and debtors are of<br />

greater signifi cance in Northern and Western Europe.<br />

Purchased debt operations have grown in importance in<br />

recent years and in 2005 accounted for 11 percent of the Group’s<br />

total revenues. In the case of Group-owned receivables, revenues<br />

consist in part of the entire amount collected, including interest,<br />

and in part of any additional fees.<br />
