Environmental Education Strategy 2009-20121.6 Context1.6.1 Context within GovernmentThere are a number of strategic documents that have been consulted in thedevelopment of this Strategy. The Strategy will then become a tool for ensuring thatthese larger and over arching strategic directions of Council are being addressed andacted upon. In essence, this Strategy is one of the tools that will enable Council totake broad environmental aims and directions, and translate them into tangibleprojects and activities which can be implemented. Environmental Education Strategy 2009-2012The Strategy is linked to a number of sustainability objectives as expressed in currentCouncil plans. These objectives have been developed as part of Council’s long termstrategic vision, so it is critical that the Strategy facilitates Council’s achievement ofthese aims.
