<strong>Environmental</strong> <strong>Education</strong> <strong>Strategy</strong> 2009-2012(ii)<strong>Council</strong>’s Management PlanWhile the 2025 Vision provides long term strategic directions, <strong>Council</strong>’s ManagementPlan provides a strategic direction for the medium to short them.The Management Plan for <strong>Council</strong> places a significant emphasis on the naturalenvironment. This again is a reflection of how highly <strong>Council</strong> and the communityvalue the environment, and working towards ensuring its preservation. One of thebroad focus areas outlined in the management plan is:“<strong>Campbelltown</strong>’s Highly Valued <strong>Environmental</strong> Assets Need to Be Maintained”The Management Plan outlines how the community of <strong>Campbelltown</strong> places a highvalue the environmental assets of <strong>Campbelltown</strong>, particularly the Scenic Hills,Georges River, rural landscapes and bushland.Key Principle Activities have been also identified. These Principle Activities for<strong>Council</strong> are:1. Preserving Our Hills, Rivers and Bushland – “<strong>Campbelltown</strong>’s Environment”;2. Growing Our Regional <strong>City</strong> – “<strong>Campbelltown</strong>’s Economy”;3. Strengthening Our Vibrant and Connected Community – “<strong>Campbelltown</strong>’sPeople”;4. Strategically Managing Our Civic Assets and Infrastructure - “<strong>Campbelltown</strong>’sAssets and Infrastructure"; and5. Developing a Dynamic Organisation – “<strong>Campbelltown</strong>’s Governance”.In summary, Principle Activity 1 states: – The <strong>City</strong> has a significant catalogue ofCultural and <strong>Environmental</strong> Assets comprising Natural Landscapes, Rivers,Indigenous Flora and Fauna, whilst other <strong>Environmental</strong> Factors such as soil, air andwater are critical to our on going survival as a species. The city’s natural bushland,Scenic Hills, rivers and native flora and fauna help define a distinctive <strong>Campbelltown</strong>– a place our community identifies with, a point of difference between <strong>Campbelltown</strong>and other places. To maintain and enhance our <strong>Environmental</strong> Assets we mustmanage them sustainably into the future.Version 2.03 18/3/10Page 10 of 48
