The fruit of Karma shares this quality andso, it cannot grant eternal joy.No effort can result in the creation of Akasa now.Nothing can produce anew what already exists. Mokshaexists and is there self-evident. It cannot be producedanew by any Karma. The moment the Ajnana which hidesit from experience disappears, that moment you areliberated and you know your Reality. You are free frombondage. Prior to that moment, you were free, but youimagined you were bound and you behaved as if youwere bound. How then are you to get rid of this idea thatyou are bound? By listening to the teachings of the Vedaswith faith therein. Then only can Ajnana perish. That isthe task which the Brahma Valli has placed before itself,in this Upanishad.It is in the nature of things that ignorance promptsmen to crave for plentiful fruits through the performanceof actions. Then they become despondent that they onlybind them more and do not help to make them free. Thatcraving for fruit, is hard to shove off, though this fearfulflux of growth and decay makes them shiver in dread.In this Upanishad, the three words, <strong>Sathya</strong>m,Jnanam, Anantham—are meaningfully affixed toBrahmam, to explain its characteristics. They are threedistinct words, signifying qualities, seeking to mark outthe One from the rest, the One Brahmam from other types
