Chapter 7 - Demersal FishAtlantic WolffishWithin the region, highest numbers of Atlantic wolffishwere found from the Great South Channel to the JeffreysLedge and Stellwagen Bank area, select locations in thecentral Gulf of Maine, Canadian waters from Digby, NovaScotia to Browns Bank and along the Scotian Shelf, andthe Northeast Peak of Georges Bank (Figure 7-53a, b).Statistical analyses identified declining trends for wolffishin the areas where they are still present in the Gulf ofMaine and Georges Bank, most notably from the Greatsouth Channel to the Stellwagen Bank/Jeffreys Ledge area(Figure 7-53c, d). Weighted persistence analyses for wolffishidentified the area from Provincetown, Massachusettsto the Jeffreys Ledge and Stellwagen Bank area in theGulf of Maine, waters off the southern tip of Nova Scotiaincluding German Bank, and along the northern edge andNortheast Peak of Georges Bank as important(Figure 7-54).ABFigure 7-54.
