Chapter 7 - Demersal FishGolden TilefishWithin the region, golden tilefish occurred along theContinental Shelf in the Southern New England andmid-Atlantic areas, with highest numbers found in deeperwaters along the shelf/slope break off Long Island Soundto Chincoteague Bay, Virginia (Figure 7-55a, b). Statisticalanalyses did not identify significant trends for tilefish(Figure 7-55c, d). Weighted persistence analyses identifieda narrow band of waters along the shelf/slope break fromLong Island to the Hudson/Raritan Estuary as important(Figure 7-56). This area is consistent with the location ofthe tilefish Habitat Area of Particular Concern designatedby MAFMC and NMFS.ABFigure 7-56.
