This meeting meantmore to me than any I have attendedas I have used part of the informationgained in several talks I've had to makesince then . . ."* * * •"The psychological aspect of the entireseries was one of the most strikingpoints to me, and I feel impressed memost because this is one of the phasesof the program that is neglected by somany Public Health Nurses .". ."The institutes I have attended in thein-service educational program havebeen very valuable to me. I believe itis the only way to keep Public HealthNurses informed and alert on a varietyof subjects. The information obtainedI have been able to use in interviewingin the clinics, well-baby, prenatal, orthopedicand home visiting. I believethe time spent in these institutes hasbeen well worth while."* * • *"I belive that the Public Health Nursein the field who is chiefly concernedwith getting a job done, and often byantiquated methods, is especially inneed of in-service training to keep herabreast, to a degree, with the rapidchanges in all fields, and, of course, toreview the basic things that are lostby non-use."* * * *It has been especially gratifying tofeel that the group of nurses in thisarea of the state have responded sowell to a program of in-service education,and plans are being made to carryon this type of work. We all feel thereis much yet to be reviewed, but recognizethat limitations over which wehave no control may delay part of theprogram. Young, M.D., M.P.H.County Health OfficerThe present staff of the HalifaxCounty Health Department consists ofthe following positions: Health Officer,Supervisor of Nurses, Senior PublicHealth Nurse, three Junior PublicHealth Nurses, four Registered Nursesin Public Health, Senior Sanitarian,Junior Sanitarian, Assistant Sanitarian,Junior Public Health Investigator, JuniorBacteriologist, Senior General Clerk,Junior General Clerk, and two Typistclerks. In addition to the regular personnel,various technical consultantsare assigned to the local health departmentfrom time to time by the StateBoard of Health and by other agencies.The new Health Center located inHalifax consists of eighteen rooms, exclusiveof six restrooms, with a total of5,500 square feet of floor space. In the
