4. OPERATION <strong>INSTRUCTION</strong>S ––––– 614.4 Adjusting the Engine SpeedThe engine speed is controlled by the governor lever. It islinked with the accelerator system on the machine unitside (accelerator handle and pedal to be procured by theequipment manufacturer) by means of an accelerator wirefor remote control.IMPORTANT:For a new engine, be especially careful not tochange engine speed abruptly or attach a heavyload for the first 50 hours of operation. Failure todo so may result in damage and shorten the lifeof the engine.Governor lever

OPERATION <strong>INSTRUCTION</strong>S4.5 Check during OperationWatch the following points to check the engine conditions.• Exhaust gas colorAvoid engine operation if black smoke continues to come out. Black smoke is generated when the engine isoverloaded. This shortens the engine life.• Abnormal noise or vibrationDepending on the machine unit structure, resonance may arise at a certain engine speed, resulting in suddenviolent vibration. Avoid engine operation near that speed.• Alarm lampsIf an alarm lamp comes on, do not be flurried but decrease the engine speed and remove the load on theengine. Then, stop the engine, check the cause and take the necessary action.• Water, oil or gas leakage, or loosened boltsOccasionally check the engine and its peripheral parts for any symptom of leakage or loosened bolt.• Low fuel level in tankAlways replenish fuel before the level drops too low during operation.IMPORTANT:• Allowable inclined engine operation : 25 deg. max. (both tossed and rolled side)Excess inclined engine operation may result in white exhaust smoke, sudden over enginespeed or engine internal damage, getting engine oil into the intake port. Operate theengine on a place as level as possible.
