FlexiSeal ® RotaryMaterialsCommon Materials Used inthis ProductThe most popular PTFE fillers usedfor FlexiSeal Rotary products arecarbon fiber, graphite, Ryton ®* /carbonand Ryton/carbon/TFM. PTFE is alsopopular for these products without anyfiller (virgin PTFE).0502 — Carbon Fiber FilledCatalog EPS 5350/USACarbon fiber lowers creep, increases flex and compressivemodulus and raises hardness. Coefficient of thermalexpansion is lowered and thermal conductivity is higher forcompounds of carbon fiber filled PTFE. Ideal for automotiveapplications in shock absorbers and water pumps.0602 — Ryton/Carbon FilledRyton/Carbon filled PTFE features improved surface lubricityand abrasion resistance. It should be used only on shaftshardened to 60 Rc or more.A number of other fillers are used incombination with PTFE, and non-PTFEcompounds are available. Moreinformation on these materials and theirproperties is available on Pages 9-7 and9-8. For best results consult the EPSDivision PTFE Application Engineeringteam at (801) 972-3000.* Ryton is a registered trademark of ChevronPhillips Chemical Company.0301 — Graphite FilledGraphite filled PTFE has extremely low coefficient of frictiondue to the low friction characteristics of graphite. Graphite ischemically inert. Graphite imparts excellent wear propertiesand high PV to PTFE.0601 — Aromatic Polyester FilledAromatic Polyester offers excellent high temperaturecapabilities and excellent wear resistance against soft, dynamic surfaces. Aromatic polyester is not recommended forsealing applications involving steam.0203 — Fiberglass FilledGlass fiber is the most common filler with a positive impact oncreep performance of PTFE. Glass fiber adds wearresistance and offers good compression strength.111103/28/0611-4 Parker Hannifin CorporationEPS DivisionToll Free: (800) 233-3900www.parkerseals.com
