Catalog EPS 5350/USAMaterialsCatalog EPS 5350/USAMaterials3Fluoroelastomer (FKM)FKM provides excellent resistance to oils, fuels and hydraulicfluids at temperatures that far exceed standard Nitrile. It alsohas very good resistance to flame and excellentimpermeability to gases and vapors. FKM is recommendedfor operating temperatures that range from -40 to +400 °F(-40 to +204 °C).PTFE (T)Polytetrafluoroethylene is recommended for use with virtuallyany fluid. Extremely low friction, wide temperature rangeand dry running capabilities are other advantages of PTFEmaterials. Excellent mechanical properties are achievedwhen PTFE is blended with fillers such as glass, bronze, carbon fiber, graphite, mineral and others. Parker EPS hasover 300 compounds to cover virtually all applicationrequirements. Parker can bond PTFE to rubber forenhanced performance.Ethylene Propylene (EPDM)EPDM offers excellent heat, ozone and sunlight resistance.EPDM has very good low temperature flexibility, goodresistance to alkalis, acids (such as acetic), and oxygenatedsolvents (such as MEK). Provides improved resistance towater and steam in applications where NBR and FKM exhibitpoor service life. Good replacement for FKM where solventsare a problem. It is not recommended for petroleum oil.EPDM is recommended for operating temperatures of -60 to+300 °F (-51 to +149°C).3Polyacrylate (ACM)Polyacrylate elastomers are most often recommended forhigher operating temperatures or applications where extremepressure (EP) lubricants are used. This material also offersadditional resistance over standard Nitrile to ozone andweather attack. Recommended for operating temperaturesranging between -15 to +300 °F (-26 to +149 °C).Silicone (VMQ)Generally recommended for high temperature, low frictionapplications. Silicone is resistant to weather, ozone, water, bases and alcohols. Not recommended in applications wheresteam, acids, aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, phosphate ester or polar solventsare present. It has poor abrasion resistance. Recommendedfor operating temperatures ranging from -90 to +400 °F (-67to +204 °C).03/28/063-2 Parker Hannifin CorporationEPS DivisionToll Free: (800) 233-3900www.parkerseals.com
