During this past year the Buck Compensation
Study was completed. An updated and comprehensive
manual of compensation policies and
procedures resulted in the adjustment of several job
descriptions and salary structures throughout the
department. Market adjustments are being implemented
and are anticipated to continue during the
next several years.
The Administrative Council worked with the
Oversight Committee for University Internal Medicine
Associates and the department’s Vice Chair for
Clinical Affairs to develop a Service Level Agreement.
This agreement identifies standards for generation
of clinical revenue for each of the
department’s 12 divisions.
UMMC’s Human Resources Department
launched its Process Improvement Program this
past year, which included establishment of six working
committees. Of those six committees, members
of the Administrative Council chair four. Travis
Schmitz chairs the Recruitment Committee; Andy
Cote chairs the Employment Committee; Gene
Arender chairs the Benefits Committee, and
Suzanne Clay chairs the EEO Committee.
In response to recommendations from the
Recruitment Committee, the department piloted a
business administration project, where MBA students
from local colleges and universities are provided
an opportunity to intern in the department.
Since its inception, two interns have been placed in
the Department of Medicine.
Members of the Administrative Council also
helped develop business plans in several areas, including
benchmarking of clinical productivity and
development initiatives.
