Endocrinology and
Metabolism
The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism
comprises an interdisciplinary faculty
that continues to focus on training,
research, and clinical care.
Christian A. Koch, MD, PhD, joined the division
as director in March 2006 and serves on the
editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology
and Metabolism, and as associate editor for the Journal
of Medical Case Reports. He also serves as a member
of the Endocrine Society’s International Relations
Committee. Koch’s clinical and research expertise is
in the pathogenesis of endocrine tumors, including
those of the pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal glands.
Together with Celso Gomez-Sanchez, MD,
Koch chaired an oral bench-to-bedside session on
the diagnosis and therapy for adrenal neoplasia at
the annual meeting of the Endocrine Society in
Toronto. Koch also presented a lecture at the Tri-
States Annual Meeting of the American College of
Endocrinology/AACE in New Orleans on the
topic of familial pituitary tumors.
Celso Gomez-Sanchez, MD, is associate
editor of Hypertension and an editorial board member
of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism
and Steroids. He is a member of the integrative clinical
endocrinology and reproductive study section
at the NIH and serves as principal investigator of
two grants: one that has been continuously funded
by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs since 1982
and another funded by the NIH since 1976.
