3Configuring the Bus Controller SettingsSelect the Settings Tab.Configure the following parameters as needed for the system:Serial BusAddressOrdinarily, the Serial Bus Address assigned to a Bus Controller is 31. Anynumber from 0 to 31 can be used; each must be unique on that bus.For redundancy applications, specific Serial Bus Addresses are required, asdescribed in chapter 7. Note: If Serial Bus Address and Redundancy Mode(on the Redundancy tab) are valid, two redundant Bus Controllers (sourceand paired) are moved or inserted to the new bus locations. However, if thenewly-selected Serial Bus Address has already been assigned to anotherdevice on the bus, the two Bus Controllers are not moved. If you make theSerial Bus Address available, you must return to this tab and re-enter theSerial Bus Address to update the paired Bus Controller.Data Rate(bps)All devices on a bus must use the same data rate: 153.6 Kbaud standard,153.6 Kbaud extended, 76.8 Kbaud, or 38.4 Kbaud. Selection of a data ratedepends on the application, as explained in the Genius I/O System User’sManual. Usually, the bus length determines the data rate. The entry madehere establishes the data rate for the Bus Controller only. If the default datarate (153.6 Kbaud standard) will not be used, the data rate of other deviceson the bus must also be changed.
