This results in a rating of 1.6 or a Lowimpact class.Additional ImpactThe construction of the proposed power lines should have no affect on drainage lines because ofthe distance between pylons, but it should be noted that many drainage, streams, rivers andwetlands cross over the proposed and existing lines. It is recommended that buffer zones shouldbe in place to project sensitive aquatic areas.Waste generated during the construction phase may enter the environment through surface waterrunoff i.e. litter or pollution such as hydrocarbons can be washed into aquatic systems affectingthose systems negatively. Storm-water flowing over the site will also mobilise loose sediments,which may enter the surface water environment affecting water quality. Storm-water containingsediment can be discharged to grassland buffers to ensure sediments fall out prior to waterentering surface water bodies.
