Alignment OI is approximately 70 km in length and travels in a southerly direction. AlignmentOI is located between the Ophathe Nature Reserve and the Hluhluwe – Umfolozi Park. Thealignment spans the R66, the Wit Mfolozi and Mefule Rivers. The alternative then follows HIJ asoutlined for alternative 1 above.1.1.4 Stakeholder Identified AlternativesDuring the public review of the Draft Scoping Report several additional alternatives wereidentified by stakeholders. All technically feasible stakeholder alternatives have been added tothe assessment. These new alternatives have been labelled as follows e.g. S(ab), S(bc), S(cd).The “S” denotes “stakeholder” and the “(ab)” for example denotes which alternative it relates to,is close to, or can potentially replace. The alternatives that have been identified are listed belowand illustrated in Figure 1-1 below:• S(ij) – Along existing 400kV power line;• S(no2) – Along existing 400kV power line;• S(am) – Along existing 400kV power line.• S(gh);• S(oi);• S(no1);1.2 Study Area DelineationThe following section is provided in order to better facilitate describing the study area. The studyarea has been divided into three sections. The northern section of the study area refers to theMpumalanga portion of the study area. The central section of the study area refers to thenorthern KwaZulu Natal portion of the study area, that is, everything south of the Mpumalangaprovincial border and north of points E, N and O.
