Participants will beprovided with full information about the above points, the questionnaire, and a consentform which they will be asked to sign prior to the interview ta<strong>ki</strong>ng place.Confidentiality1. Haemata has a process of confidential data management that uses a code basedsystem that ensures that individuals and institutions cannot be identified except bythe holder of the code key.2. All information collected will be entered into a database housed on the Haemataserver which is a secure facility only accessible by Haemata staff, and protected byfirewalls and passwords.3. Completed interview questionnaires will be destroyed on completion of the project.4. Any audio recordings of interviews will be held in a locked filing cabinet on Haemataoffice premises and will be deleted or wiped on completion of the project.5. All interviewees will be asked to sign consent forms that will include an explanation ofhow information will be handled in a confidential manner.6. All Haemata staff handling the data will sign a confidentiality agreement.Interview QuestionnaireThe interview questions will be based on eliciting information relating to the five researchquestions concerning:• the support and professional development that is currently being provided• the support and development that is needed by Māori medium teachers• the issues that impact on teacher and principals’ choices in regard to in-servicesupport and professional developmentQuestions will be targeted in order to ensure that each group of informants, teachers andPrincipals of Level 1 – 4 immersion schools, are asked questions relevant to theirknowledge base.Literature ReviewHaemata Ltd will review national literature on the provision of in-service professionaldevelopment for Māori-medium teachers, and international literature on the provision of68 | KIA EKE KI NGĀ TAUMATA, KIA PAKARI NGĀ KAIAKO
