ORGANIZATION UNITOF THE VICE-DIRECTOR FOR INFORMATICSVICE-DIRECTOR FOR INFORMATICS: Ing. Peter Juračič (since 16/11/2007 RNDr. Štefan Káčer)GEOFONDIn terms of valid legislation (Geological Act 569/2007 of the Code,Regulation of ME SR No. 51/2008 and SGIDŠ statute) the Geofond providesthe following services:• registration of exploration areas,• administration of registers of old mining works,• administration of evidence on exclusive deposits, which after their prospectingtermination are not exploited, and their protection,• elaborates statements to investments from the viewpoint of mineral resourcesdeposits protection, territorial stability and registered geological works,• annual elaboration of Balance of Exclusive Deposits of the Slovak Republic,• evidence and administration of sample and core storage documentationand statements to its destruction,• creation of Geofond information system as a component of the nationalinformation system on geological research and exploration,• collecting, storage, evidence, elaboration of and making available forcustomers mainly:– reports on geological works results,– calculations of mineral deposits resources and groundwater resources,– diploma, MSc and PhD theses, fi ndings, expert opinions and similarworks within the field of geology,– reports from foreign study stays and missions within the field ofgeology,• evidence and storage of educational-promotion films and videocassettesfi xed in geology,• control of archived materials from the viewpoint of their completenessand readability and their amendments, when needed,• elaboration and actualization of general documentation on geologicalmapping, on deposit, hydrogeologic, engineering geological, geophysical,geochemical and other investigation of the Slovak Republic territory,• development of the Central Geological Library and making availableprimary and secondary information sources,• creation and operation of the central Geofond bank of data,• providing geological information upon order.The Geofond creates an integrated complex of the following specializeddepartments:– Department of Written Documentation (Archive),– Registers Department,– Department of Geofond’s Information Systems,– Department of Evidence and Protection RawMineral Deposits,– Department of Core Recovery and Sample StorageGeofond’s Head: RNDr. Milan Gargulák, CSc.22Annual Report 2007 State Geological Institute of Dionýz Štúr
