The desiccant acts as a moisture indicator bychanging color, and is visible through the required bowlguard and transparent plastic bowl.Technical Information:1. The desiccant is silica gel having a –45 o F. (-43 o C) dewpoint at a maximum of 90 o F (32 o C) temperature with aregeneration temperature of 350 o F (177 o C). When thesilica gel color changes from dark blue to light pink orclear, it has become saturated with moisture and mustbe changed.2. The unit has a drying capacity of 4400 standard cubicfeet (124,6m 3 ) of air to –45 o F (-43 o C) atmospheric dewpoint at rated specifications before the desiccantbecomes saturated.3. The maximum air flow rating is 10 standard cubic feetper minute (0,283m 3 /minute) at 100 psi (689.5 kPa) perunit.4. All ratings are based on 70 o F (21 o C) saturated inlet airtemperatures at 100 psi (689.5 kPa).5. The polycarbonate plastic bowl holds 1.64 pounds (0,74kg) of desiccant and is rated for a maximum temperatureand pressure at 125 o F (52 o C) and 150 psi (1034 kPa).6. The silica gel desiccant is provided in a sealed 1.75pound (0,794 kg) bag and is shipped in a box inside theunit cabinet.7. The unit is to be used on compressed air service only.Operation of Dehydrator:The plastic bowl of dehydrator is filled with silica gel. As therelative humidity increases, the silica gel absorbs themoisture and begin to change color from dark blue to lightpink, indicating the desiccant must be replaced.To Make Dehydrator Functional:Drain valve (E12) shall be closed.To Drain Dehydrator input line:CLOSE air shut-off valve (E14). OPEN drain valve (E12) todrain input line then close it. OPEN air shut-off valve (E14).To replace Dehydrator cartridge:Once it has been drained, CLOSE the Dehydrator air shut-offvalve (E14).Unscrew both the bowl guard and the transparent bowl.Replace desiccant with a fresh charge.Follow instructions described on Viking data sheet no. 276(Form No. F_042089) provided with the silicagel recharge.FM-086G-0-44C
