Christmas Day and New Years Day are StatutoryHolidays in <strong>ALL</strong> provinces!Boxing Day (Dec 26 th ) is a Stat Holiday in Ontarioonly.Home OfficeThe following will take place for Home Office, including the Member Experience Dept, over the Holidays:• Close at 1pm on Thursday December 24 th• Closed on Friday December 25 th• Closed on Monday December 28 th• Close at 3pm on Thursday December 31 st• Closed on Friday January 1 st_____________________________________________________________________________________Here is some important information regarding the Stat Holidays coming up in December:Substitute Day Off for General ManagersGeneral Managers must take a substitute day off with pay because Boxing Day falls on a day they normallyhave off. General Managers can take Monday December 28 th off although if they have to be working in theclub that day they can take their substitute day off in February or March; General Managers are notpermitted to take the substitute holiday in January. The substitute day must be taken no later than March26 th .Your ScheduleYou must make appropriate changes to your schedule for the Stat Holidays! It’s important to have staffcoverage on the Stat holidays if your club is open but you will schedule less Associates than usual. Pleasespeak with your Divisional Manager about your scheduling and if your club has Child Minding, what hours itneeds to be open.Personal TrainingPersonal Training is NOT permitted on Stat holidays. Please do not schedule any sessions onDecember 25 th and January 1 st ; if it’s scheduled you must un-schedule it. Personal Trainers in Ontariomust not schedule any sessions on December 25 th , 26 th and January 1 st .Group Ex ClassesGeneral Mangers, please work with your Group Ex Regional to find out what Group Ex classes will berunning.Public Holiday PayPublic holiday pay is designed so that Associates receive wages for having a day off because of a statutoryholiday. Associates who qualify can take stat holidays off work and be paid public holiday pay.Who Qualifies for Public Holiday Pay?Associates qualify for public holiday pay unless they don’t work:• Their entire regularly-scheduled shift before or after the public holiday; or• Their entire shift on the public holiday if they agreed or were required to work that dayQualifying full-time and part-time Associates receive holiday pay whether they work or not on the statholiday.In Ontario, Manitoba and Quebec it does not matter how recently an Associate was hired or how many daysthey worked before the stat holiday. In Alberta, Associates must have worked for at least 30 days or shiftsin the year before the holiday. In B.C. Associates must be employed for at least 30 days and worked on atleast 15 of the 30 days before the stat holiday. In New Brunswick Associates must have worked for at least90 days in the 12 months before the holiday. In Nova Scotia Associates must be entitled to receive pay forat least 15 of the 30 days before the holiday. In Newfoundland Associates must be employed for at least 30days prior to the holiday.
