Chapter 4: Checklist<br />
• Are the lands proposed for development <strong>in</strong> accordance with<br />
the sequenc<strong>in</strong>g priorities set out <strong>in</strong> the development plan or<br />
local area plan?<br />
• Has an assessment of the capacity of exist<strong>in</strong>g schools or the<br />
need for new school facilities been carried <strong>in</strong> connection<br />
with proposals for substantial residential developments?<br />
• Have the other necessary agencies <strong>in</strong>putted <strong>in</strong>to the<br />
plan/development proposal?<br />
• Is there an appropriate range of community and support<br />
facilities, when and where they are needed?<br />
• In the case of higher density schemes, is there adequate<br />
exist<strong>in</strong>g public transport or will it be provided <strong>in</strong> tandem<br />
with development?<br />
• Will the development:<br />
- prioritise public transport, cycl<strong>in</strong>g and walk<strong>in</strong>g, and<br />
dissuade the use of cars?<br />
- ensure accessibility for everyone, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g people with<br />
disabilities?<br />
- encourage more efficient use of energy and a reduction<br />
<strong>in</strong> greenhouse gas emissions?<br />
- <strong>in</strong>clude the right quality and quantity of public open<br />
space<br />
- <strong>in</strong>clude measures to ensure satisfactory standards of<br />
personal safety and traffic safety with<strong>in</strong> the<br />
neighbourhood?<br />
- Present an attractive and well-ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed appearance?<br />
- Promote social <strong>in</strong>tegration and provide for a diverse<br />
range of household types, age groups and mix of<br />
hous<strong>in</strong>g tenures?<br />
