Provision for lower densities <strong>in</strong> limited cases<br />
5.12 To facilitate a choice of hous<strong>in</strong>g types with<strong>in</strong> areas, limited provision<br />
may be made for lower density schemes provided that, with<strong>in</strong> a<br />
neighbourhood or district as a whole, average densities achieve any<br />
m<strong>in</strong>imum standards recommended above.<br />

• Are residential densities sufficiently high <strong>in</strong> locations which<br />
are, or will be, served by public transport?<br />
• Have proposals for higher densities been accompanied <strong>in</strong> all<br />
cases by high qualitative standards of design and layout?<br />
• Does the design and location of new apartment blocks<br />
respect the amenities of exist<strong>in</strong>g adjacent hous<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> terms of<br />
sunlight and overlook<strong>in</strong>g?
