In RAID5 mode, no data islost even if one of the four HDDs is damaged.• To configure a RAID mode, HDDs must be the same size. It is highlyrecommended that you use the same brand and model HDDs to configureRAID.• RAID settings are available only for internal HDDs.• Building a RAID mode using 4 x 500GB HDDs takes approximately 3 hours forRAID1, and 4 hours for RAID5.(It is recommended to use UPS while configuring RAID because reconfiguringRAID due to a power failure during the first try may take a while.)• Changing the RAID settings to a new mode automatically deletes all datain the HDDs of the product, and new video files are not saved until thenew RAID mode is completely configured.Caution• When the product is abnormally turned off, i.e. by pulling the AC poweradapter out, and then turned on, the product may reconfigure its RAIDsettings automatically to ensure the integrity of saved data. While a newRAID mode is being configured, existing data is not lost, but new datawill not be saved either.• If more than two RAID configured HDDs are broken or removed from theproduct, the RAID configuration will malfunction, causing data loss.89
