“Visions in Polymers”<br />
at K 2010 By<br />
A special presentation entitled “Visions in Polymers” will be<br />
<strong>the</strong> highlight of <strong>the</strong> 18th K 2010 International Trade Fair <strong>for</strong><br />
Plastics <strong>an</strong>d Rubber.<br />
Now in its 50th year, <strong>the</strong> 18th K 2010 Trade<br />
Fair <strong>for</strong> Plastics <strong>an</strong>d Rubber will take place<br />
from October 27 to November 3, 2010 in<br />

is being org<strong>an</strong>ized by <strong>the</strong> Germ<strong>an</strong> plastics<br />
industry <strong>an</strong>d spearheaded by <strong>the</strong> PlasticsEurope<br />
Deutschl<strong>an</strong>d e.V. association <strong>an</strong>d Messe Düsseldorf. It<br />
will tackle questions such as what our everyday life will look<br />
like in 20 years, what contribution plastics <strong>c<strong>an</strong></strong> make in solving<br />

challenges, <strong>an</strong>d which potential applications (that appear visionary<br />
today) may be introduced in two decades.<br />
According to Werner M. Dornscheidt, president<br />
<strong>an</strong>d CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, <strong>the</strong> international<br />
plastics <strong>an</strong>d rubber industries are confident that<br />
<strong>an</strong> economic revival is on <strong>the</strong> cards. “Plastic<br />
processors have reported increased business<br />
as have machine m<strong>an</strong>ufacturers <strong>an</strong>d raw<br />
materials producers. M<strong>an</strong>y businesses have<br />
been stepping up <strong>the</strong>ir innovation ef<strong>for</strong>ts,<br />
reviewing long-established practices, <strong>an</strong>d<br />
exp<strong>an</strong>ding <strong>the</strong>ir technology base in order<br />
to emerge from this difficult situation more<br />
highly equipped to compete in <strong>the</strong> global<br />
markets,” says Dornscheidt.<br />
Automotive Industries (AI) spoke to<br />
Petra Cullm<strong>an</strong>, director of K 2010, <strong>an</strong>d asked<br />
her what new products will be on display <strong>for</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> automotive industry at K 2010.<br />
Cullm<strong>an</strong>n: For all industries, productivity <strong>an</strong>d competitiveness<br />
