EDUCATION AND WORKFORCEEducationPrimary EducationThe Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced on March 25, 2010, that as of July 1, 2010, KendletonSchool District would be annexed to neighboring Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (ISD),where Kendleton students already attended middle and high schools. Lamar Consolidated ISD is officiallylocated in Rosenberg, a city approximately 15 miles from Kendleton. LCISD is an accredited schooldistrict with art, music, and band facilities, which previously were not maintained in Kendleton ISD dueto funding issues. Lamar Consolidated ISD serves 23,272 students at four high schools, four junior high schools,three middle schools, and twenty‐one elementary schools as well as four special sites. It is a TEARecognized school district with 28 of 30 LCISD campuses (94 percent) ranked in the upper tiers ofacademic performance. LCISD has 18 schools (60 percent of campuses) ranked Exemplary and 10 moreearning Recognized.The district is divided into four high school “tracks”, creating 4 systems within the larger district. One ofthese systems is based in Rosenberg and receives Kendleton students.Appendix A, Page 27
