1.0 IntroductionThe City of Kendleton, Texas, has undertaken the creation of a 20-Year Growth Plan inorder to pragmatically address the current and future needs of the community. The Cityhas recognized the imminent development forces which have the ability to transform theentire western portion of Fort Bend County and desires to actively plan for the future sothat a balance can be found between the community’s existing rural character, desiredgrowth, and transportation-based new developments.Figure 1-1: Location MapsThe City of Kendleton is located in western Fort Bend County at the intersection of USHighway 59 and FM Road 2919, and borders the San Bernard River, which establishesthe boundary between Fort Bend and Wharton counties. The City Limits encompass 1.4square miles (907 acres) with a 1/2 mile Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction encompassing anadditional 4.1 square miles (2,623 acres) for a total City of Kendleton jurisdictional areaof 5.5 square miles (3,530 acres). The 2010 Census indicates a population of 380persons within the city limits.
