Fort Bend County is the beneficiary of tremendous westward expansion of the GreaterHouston area. As the City of Houston’s development pushed west, the Sugar Land areaexperienced explosive housing market growth in the 1980’s which continues to this day.The reconstruction of the US 59 bridge over the Brazos River and the addition of a third“loop” around Houston known as the Grand Parkway has allowed massive newdevelopment to occur south of the Richmond/Rosenberg area.
