SurveyIn May 2012, the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) conducted the inaugural APS-wide State of theService employee survey. All our ongoing and non-ongoing employees were encouraged to participate by providingtheir views and experiences of working in the APS.In general, the survey found:> 92 per cent of staff indicated they are proud to work at ASADA> 89 per cent of staff indicated that ASADA operates with a high level of integrity> 86 per cent of staff agreed that ASADA genuinely cares about employees being healthy and safe at work.In May 2013, ASADA again participated in the 2013 APS Employee Census. For the first time casual employeeswere invited to participate in the survey which will enable the agency to obtain a better understanding of the viewsof this important work group.Learning and developmentOur Performance and Career Enrichment Scheme continues to provide the basis for corporate training initiativeswithin the agency. We recognise that it is our people with their diverse experiences, abilities, skills, languages and culturesthat builds and promotes an effective and collaborative work environment.We continue our commitment to equity and diversity by ensuring that our employees, and those seekingemployment with ASADA, receive fair treatment in recruitment, selection, conditions of employment andcareer development.As a further commitment to our staff, ASADA received accreditation as a Breastfeeding Friendly workplace in 2012–13.Commonwealth Disability StrategySince 1994, Commonwealth departments and agencies have reported on their performance as policy adviser,purchaser, employer, regulator and provider under the Commonwealth Disability Strategy. In 2007–08, reportingon the employer role was transferred to the Australian Public Service Commission’s State of the Service Report andthe APS Statistical Bulletin. These reports are available at . From 2010–11, departments andagencies have no longer been required to report on these functions.The Commonwealth Disability Strategy has been overtaken by a new National Disability Strategy 2010–2020 whichsets out a ten year national policy framework to improve the lives of people with disability, promote participationand create a more inclusive society. A high level two-yearly report will track progress against each of the sixoutcome areas of the Strategy and present a picture of how people with disability are faring. The first of thesereports will be available in 2014, and will be available at .The Social Inclusion Measurement and Reporting Strategy agreed by the Government in December 2009 willalso include some reporting on disability matters in its regular How Australia is Faring report and, if appropriate,in strategic change indicators in agency Annual Reports.
