SALISBURY HISTORYThe drug store is now owned by Louis Hailson, <strong>the</strong> beautyshop by Lynne Marie Cote and <strong>the</strong> c<strong>of</strong>fee shop by ValMcCarthy.The East Parish Building Committee appointed in 1959for a twenty year term were: Walter Morse, Joseph Charles,Nelson Gagnon, William Pettengill, Edmund Bartlett, AlbertGagnon, Alvan Hoyt, J. Wallace MacIntosh, George S.Eaton, Erwin H. Pike and John W. Buswell.ELDERLY HOUSINGThe Elderly Housing Project on Beach Road was completedin 1976. The property at 35 Beach Road was purchasedfrom Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Chretien. The architectwas Sam Gauntanis <strong>of</strong> Boston. The builder was Fred S.Findlen and Sons <strong>of</strong> Dedham, Massachusetts. (The GreatMeadow) Village has 80 units. The Housing Authority consisted<strong>of</strong> Grant Morse, Chairman; William Shook, ViceChairman; John Manghis, Treasurer; Ralph Lamprey, AssistantTreasurer; and Jeannette Harris, Secretary.The Selectmen at <strong>the</strong> time were James Hunt, HenryWalker and Peter Souliotis.WILLIAM H. HILTONSENIOR CITIZEN CENTERThe William H. Hilton Senior Citizen Center in <strong>Salisbury</strong>opened on December 4, 1988, with a special ribbon-cuttingceremony. The center, located on Lafayette Roadbetween <strong>the</strong> fire station and <strong>the</strong> municiple building, becamea reality due to a gift <strong>of</strong> money left to <strong>the</strong> town by William164
