<strong>Salisbury</strong> SchoolsSEA SIDE SCHOOLThe first school at <strong>the</strong> beach was in <strong>the</strong> home <strong>of</strong> Mr. Penniman.The <strong>Salisbury</strong> Beach School, known as <strong>the</strong> SeaSide School, was built in 1893 and was for grades onethrough three. The carpenter was William Charles Pike.When <strong>the</strong>re was a high tide, <strong>the</strong> school had to close because<strong>of</strong> flooding.Teachers were as follows:1893 - Miss Gertrude Richards (paid $4.00 per week plusboard)1894 - Miss Anne Pike1895 - Miss Elizabeth P. Currier1898 - Miss Elizabeth M. Bartlett1898 - Miss Frances Lord1900 - Miss Bertha M. Knowles1901 - Miss Abbie Smith1908 - Miss Mary Cole1914 - M.E.
