<strong>Salisbury</strong> Schoolseight. The principal was John H. Lawson <strong>of</strong> Gloucester, Massachusetts.The architect was Maurice E. Witmer <strong>of</strong> Portsmouth,New Hampshire. On <strong>the</strong> building committee were <strong>the</strong> three<strong>Salisbury</strong> selectmen, Grant Morse, Glen Clark and Harold F.Congdon. School Committee members were Burton Dow,Morton Wheeler, Peter Souliotis, Eugene Dean, Emily Pikeand John Flaherty.Triton Regional High School opened in September, 1971,with 1,375 students from <strong>Salisbury</strong>, Newbury and Rowley.Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School wasbuilt in 1973.In 1932 <strong>the</strong> schools in <strong>Salisbury</strong>, along with schoolsthroughout America, celebrated <strong>the</strong> two hundredth birthday<strong>of</strong> George Washington.In April, <strong>the</strong> Parent-Teachers Association joined with <strong>the</strong>schools in a “Washington Festival” with patriotic skits fromeach class.In February, special birthday programs were held in <strong>the</strong>schools by each grade. In May, two Washington elms wereplanted, one at <strong>the</strong> Spaulding School, donated by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Salisbury</strong>Grange and one at <strong>the</strong> Everett School, donated by <strong>the</strong><strong>Salisbury</strong> PTA.Schools from <strong>Salisbury</strong> <strong>To</strong>wn Reports.THE PIKE SCHOOLThe Pike School, on <strong>the</strong> corner <strong>of</strong> Bridge Road and SchoolStreet, is named for Major Robert Pike. It is a one roomschool built in 1882 and opened September 11 <strong>of</strong> that yearfor <strong>the</strong> fall term. The first school teacher was Miss JudithBartlett.
