350th CelebrationThe September 16th events began at <strong>the</strong> State Reservationon <strong>Salisbury</strong> Beach with “Kites over New England’’. Afishing derby by Raymond Champagne and a lobster fest,hosted by Ed and Barbara Hunt, were also part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> festivities.That same evening, <strong>the</strong> Cobblestone Resturant was <strong>the</strong>location <strong>of</strong> a Hawaiian-shirt beach party. Entertainment for<strong>the</strong> evening was presented by Dick Kaplan and his band TheMoonlight Surfers .Saturday, September, 17th boasted <strong>the</strong> Ould NewburyMuster and Parade on <strong>Salisbury</strong> Beach. In <strong>the</strong> evening, <strong>the</strong>East Parish Methodist Church held a ham and bean supper.The <strong>Chamber</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Commerce</strong> held a volleyball tournament at<strong>the</strong> Sidewalk Cafe on <strong>the</strong> south end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> beach. At 9:30p.m. <strong>the</strong>re was a fireworks display.On Sunday, September 18, an Ecumenical Sunrise servicewas held at <strong>the</strong> State Reservation. Reverend John Folley<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Methodist Church, and Fa<strong>the</strong>r Thomas Morgan <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> Star <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Sea Church, led <strong>the</strong> service. Immediately following,a pancake breakfast was held at <strong>the</strong> MethodistChurch.On Sunday afternoon at 12:30, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>Salisbury</strong>’s largestparades began at <strong>the</strong> Beach parking lot. The chairwoman <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> parade was Bonnie Ward <strong>of</strong> Newburyport. James Hunt,one <strong>of</strong> <strong>Salisbury</strong>’s outstanding citizens, was Grand Marshal,with Ralph Barrett, Honorary Grand Marshall. Ralph, formany years, organized <strong>Salisbury</strong>’s Memorial Day Parades.Ralph Barrett passed away in December <strong>of</strong> 1988.On parade were twelve marching bands including TritonRegional High School in <strong>the</strong> lead. Fort Devens Army band,Clan MacPherson from Andover, <strong>the</strong> Continental Navy fromNewburyport, Granite State Garrison Drum and Bugle Corpfrom Keene, New Hampshire, Rawhide Marching Band fromPeabody, <strong>Salisbury</strong>’s Dick Kaplan and his Dixie Land Band,191
