Aston Martin’s sports model, the new V12 Vantage S, with the<br />
exception of the One-77 hypercar, arrives as the fastest road-going<br />
Aston Martin yet offe ed. The new model replaces the outgoing<br />
V12 Vantage in markets around the world. It’s capable of sprinting<br />
from 0-100 kmh in 3.9 seconds. This sport model has the world’s<br />
shortest acceleration time among mass-produced cars as well as<br />
being the most powerful Vantage model in Aston Martin’s 100 years<br />
of glorious past.<br />
Strong and fl xible V12 Vantage S produces 620 Nm torque at 5,750<br />
rpm and 510 Nm torque is available from just 1,000 rpm. With rearwheel<br />
drive and and its new automatic and manual transmission, it<br />
gives you the joy of a true sports automobile. As it would be expected<br />
from such a competent automobile, the V12 Vantage S contains race<br />
car technology features. This new model developed by tests on Green<br />
Hell (Nordschleife) route at Germany’s Nürburgring race track which<br />
famous with its extremely challenging conditions. In addition to<br />
the dynamic properties, it incorporates features like CNC-machined<br />
combustion chambers and hollow camshafts. Another signifi ant<br />
feature is the new gearbox. Sportshift III, a new seven-speed<br />
AMT transaxle gearbox specifi ally designed to tap the potency<br />
of V12 Vantage S. Seamless gear changes at high engine speeds.<br />
Advanced light-touch paddleshifts giving maximum driver control<br />
as both hands remain on the wheel. A transmission derived from<br />
the Vantage GT programme brings motorsport engineering and<br />
race-car capability to the road. Furthermore, the new box saves 25<br />
kilogrammes over the old manual six speed transmission.<br />
The three-stage adaptive damping; another ‘first <strong>for</strong> the Vantage<br />
family; allows the driver to more precisely tailor the car’s dynamic<br />
character. ‘Normal’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Track’ modes provide a broad swath<br />
of dynamic per<strong>for</strong>mance that can be tuned to better suit the driver’s<br />
requirements. The system also governs the level of power steering<br />
assistance offe ed. Working alongside the extended adaptive<br />
damping system is a ‘Sport’ mode, controlled via a button on the<br />
dashboard, that alters throttle response, gearshift speed and timing,<br />
and exhaust note to, tune the character of the car to the driver’s<br />
requirements.<br />
The ZF Servotronic power assisted steering is new. With a quicker<br />
15:1 ratio, it is linked to the adaptive damping button and offer<br />
two-mode steering assistance designed to best match the ‘Sport’ or<br />
‘Normal’ settings generated by the Adaptive Damping System.<br />
