Dean’s Recommendation:
The College is partnering with NBC to offer students
and faculty an exciting electronic resource, NBC Learn
(www.nbclearn.org). This standards-based repository
of NBC news content provides primary source film
and documents.
Dean’s Activity:
Lynn DeMuth, Regional Assistant Dean, participated in
a national research panel addressing educator ethics
sponsored by Educational Testing Service (ETS). Our
supplemental standards were recognized as a quality
set of expectations for students. We are honored to
be asked to collaborate on research in this field.
Dean’s Reminder:
Thank you for your efforts to refine our state-specific
syllabi! Using these syllabi provides students with a
framework for learning, more clearly demonstrating
course alignment to state and national standards,
as well as our conceptual framework. The syllabi
look great and we have received positive comments
from students.

New This Quarter:
Continuing education and professional development
courses offered through College Extension are
being revised to include collaborative assignments/
assessments that promote shared learning
experiences, culminating projects that focus on
critical and creative thinking and assignment options
and multimedia enhancements that better meet the
needs of diverse learners.
Dean’s Recommendation:
During the last quarter, 31 continuing teacher
education and professional development courses were
developed or revised to foster student engagement,
to promote student achievement associated with the
University and College Extension learning outcomes,
and to provide an alignment to state and national
standards. The dedication, knowledge and experience
of our faculty made this possible: Carrie Buck, Phyllis
Carbonaro, Catherine Cisar, Myrtle Combrink, Martine
Fiting, Nancy Fitzgerald, Elsa Giles, Donna Hogard,
Melissa Holmberg, Allison Hoewisch, Angela Kennedy,
Cynthia Kennedy, Kristin Korte, Jo Ann Lynch, Jamie
Mahoney, Jackie Mangieri, Thomas Martin, Danielle
Miller, Suzy Natividad, Ray November, Hildegard Selig,
Mary Sheedy, Calvin Thogersen, Dominique White and
Kristine Vanduyne.
