Faculty Engagement Survey
A
s a University, we know that when
you, our faculty, are engaged, we’re all
the better for it. When you’re feeling
invested in your role as educators, there
is a positive impact to you, to our students and to the
University as a whole.
The Faculty Engagement Survey
Two years ago, we decided we needed a way to measure
how engaged you are and to capture your points
of pride and pain. We also wanted to capture your
suggestions about how we can continue to innovate and
improve as a University. In 2010, we launched the Faculty
Engagement Survey as a tool to solicit this type of input.
Since then, through this survey you have consistently
reinforced why you are here: to impact the lives of our
students and to help University of Phoenix succeed in
accomplishing our mission.
The latest results
The most recent Faculty Engagement Survey results
are cause for celebration. I’m pleased to report that an
impressive 56.58 percent of the 8,000 of you that we
surveyed—that’s approximately one-quarter of our
faculty population—responded. And 98 percent of the
survey items are trending upward. Faculty engagement
has reached an all-time high of 82.77 percent.
While these results speak to how much we can
accomplish when we work together, I want to assure
you that our efforts are not restricted to the short term.
We will continue to survey you on a regular basis, and
we will continue to take action on issues you bring to
our attention as we work together for an even better
University.
Raise your voice
If you didn’t receive an invitation to participate in the
February survey, don’t worry. Starting this spring, we
have begun to survey 25% of our faculty body every
six months. This means each of you will have the
opportunity to participate in the official survey once
every two years—but this new system also ensures
that we are receiving your vital feedback on a more
regular and frequent basis.
It’s always anonymous
Remember, your participation in the Faculty
Engagement Survey, and the answers you provide,
are anonymous and kept confidential by our survey
vendor, Quantum Workplace. Quantum handles the
administration, analysis and reporting of the results,
and no individual survey responses are ever reported
to us. Results are aggregated without individual
identifiable information. In no way can anyone
at University of Phoenix connect your responses
directly to you. What does this mean? It means we
truly want your 100% honest answers. It’s the only
way we can continue to improve.
