Since these apparent stabilization effects of the budget were called forthby an unexpectedly high rate of inflation, higher than in the past, they cannotbe attributed to the fiscal policies intended at the start of the year. Rather,they may be regarded as part of the automatic stabilizing component offiscal policy.
