2011-20122012Interschool 3 on 3 Basketball TournamentThe GCE School organized on Friday the 18 th of November 2011 the 3 on 3 interschool basketball tournamentat KERAVNOS Strovolou premises. Our school could not havemissed the opportunity to participate in an event of this kind! Our departmentput together one team for the boys‘ category consisting ofYear 5 students Antonis Elia, Andronikos Neophytou and Iacovos Kasinosand from Year 6 Yiannis Mavromoustakos. Our school also participatedin the 3 point competition with Year 3 student Stephanie Foukaris.Stephanie, who is a member of the Cyprus National Basketball Team,was in great shape and managed to win the first place in the 3 pointshooting competition. Our boys‘ team gave an excellent performance and didtheir best and managed to reach the semi finals of the tournament. It is onlyfair to say that our boys showed excellent team spirit and managed to win thethird place of the tournament! Congratulations to Stephanie and our boys‘team for doing their best and for representing our school in the best way theycould. Hopefully next time, and with some luck on our side, we can move onto the final and show our real potential!Interschool Tennis TournamentThe Senior School and the American Academy of Nicosia jointly organizedon Friday the 25 th of November 2011 the Inter-school Tennis tournamentat the premises of Junior School in Nicosia. Our school participated for thesecond consecutive year in this event and was represented by three studentsfrom PASCAL English School and one from Διιεληθή ρνιή ΠΑΘΑΙ.The students who represented PASCAL English School were: Andreas Stylianou,Yiannis Neofytou, Artemis Papageorgiou and George Anastasiourepresented Διιεληθή ρνιή ΠΑΘΑΙ. Unfortunately George Anastasioudidn‘t manage to qualify to the semi-finals despite the fact that he played some very good points. AndreasStylianou , Yiannis Neofytou and Artemis Papageorgiou did qualify and competed in the semi-finalsfor the 3 rd and 4 th place. At the end, our students finished the tournament in the 4 th place. Congratulationsto our students for doing their best and for representing our school in the best way they could.Hopefully next year with some luck on our side we will manage to win the tournament!MOEC Nicosia District Cross Country raceThe Ministry of Education organized on Friday the 9 th of December 2011 theannual district cross-country competition at the premises of ―M.Koutsofta &A.Panagide‖ Lyceum at Paliometocho. Our school was represented by eightstudents from Pascal English School. The students who took part were thosequalified from the inter-school cross-country competition, which was organizedfor the first time in our school, and were selected based on their timeperformance. The students who represented our school are the following:Kalliopi Kountouri, Ioanna Kekkou, Anastasia Fierou, Eleftheria Stylianou,Philipos Arsalides, Chrysovalantis Erotokritou, Antreas Poullakos and Mamas Philipou. All of our studentsgave an excellent performance and managed to finish between the first 60 amongst the total number of120 athletes that competed in each one of the categories. We are very pleased to announce that KalliopiKountouri won the 2 nd place of the competition and improved her personal record in the categoryof Gymnasium girls. Congratulations to all of our students for doing their very best and for representingour school in the best way they could.19
