1.2 Functional Overview<br />

The <strong>PXA27x</strong> processor offers an integrated system-on-a-chip design based on the Intel XScale ®<br />

Microarchitecture. The <strong>PXA27x</strong> processor integrates the Intel XScale ®1 Microarchitecture core with many on-chip<br />

peripherals that allows design of many different products for the handheld and cellular handset markets. Figure 1<br />

is the block diagram for the <strong>PXA27x</strong> processor.<br />

The PXA270 processor is available in a 13 mm x 13 mm (0.512 x 0.512 inches), 356-pin 0.50 mm (0.0197 inches)<br />

VF-BGA molded matrix array package with 32-bit functionality. The PXA271 processor and PXA272 processor are<br />

available in a 14 mm x 14 mm (0.551 x 0.551 inches), 336-pin 0.65 mm (0.0256 inches) FS-CSP with 32-bit<br />

functionality.<br />
