2. BUS SERVICE AND SCHEDULE<br />
Current Service<br />
There are thirty‐nine bus routes operating in Northeast <strong>Queens</strong>. New York City Transit operates<br />
the Q1, Q12, Q13, Q15, Q15A, Q16, Q17, Q20A, Q20B, Q26, Q27, Q28, Q30, Q31, Q36, Q43, Q44,<br />
Q46, Q48, Q58, Q76, Q88, and X68 bus routes. MTA Bus Company operates the Q19, Q25, Q34,<br />
Q50, Q64, Q65, Q66, QM1, QM2, QM3, QM4, QM5, QM6, QM7, QM8, and QM20. In addition to<br />
these routes, Nassau Inter County Express (NICE) operates the N20, N21, N22, N22A, and N26 in<br />
the study area. Within <strong>Queens</strong>, NICE buses can only drop off customers coming from Nassau<br />
County and they can only pick up customers going to Nassau County. Please note that NICE buses<br />
are not operated by the MTA and for this reason are not included in the analysis for this study.<br />

Most local and limited bus routes in Northeast <strong>Queens</strong> operate completely within the study area.<br />
These bus routes often use the same streets in denser residential and commercial areas. Main<br />
Street, Kissena Boulevard, Roosevelt Avenue, Hillside Avenue, Northern Boulevard, and Union<br />
Street are major bus corridors. The majority of local and limited bus routes that extend beyond<br />
the study area boundaries terminate in Downtown Jamaica (Q1, Q17, Q20B, Q25, Q30, Q31, Q34,<br />
Q36, Q43, Q44, Q65 and Q76). Most residents rely on the subway for crosstown service to<br />
Western <strong>Queens</strong> and Manhattan, but the Q19 and Q66 provide service to Astoria and Long Island<br />
City, respectively. The Q58 extends to Ridgewood and the Brooklyn border. The Q44 and Q50<br />
