Classifying Northeast <strong>Queens</strong> Bus Transfers<br />
After evaluating all transfer counts the nature of trips made within Northeast <strong>Queens</strong> can be inferred. Bus<br />
riders were broken down as transfers to Subway, transfers to other Northeast <strong>Queens</strong> buses, transfers to<br />
other buses, or single‐leg journey. Customers are generally split as: 30% single‐leg journey, 30% bus‐tobus<br />
transfer, 40% bus‐to‐subway transfer.<br />

Among Northeast <strong>Queens</strong> bus routes, there are routes that clearly serve as subway feeders, where more<br />
than half of customers on these routes were connecting to subways. Routes with the highest percentage<br />
of subway transfers are the Q26 (79%), Q64 (73%), Q16 (59%), and Q46 (51%). The route with the highest<br />
number of bus transfers is the Q76, with 60% of customers transferring to other buses. Other bus routes<br />
with more than half of weekday customers transferring to and from other buses are the Q88 (58%), Q31<br />
(54%), Q27 (51%), and Q50 (50%). The routes with the largest percentage of bus customers remaining on<br />
a single bus are the Q66 (45%), Q25/Q34 (42%), and the Q48 (40%).<br />
