Regional Approach Gets Results<br />
As a premier regional service agency, Oakland<br />
Schools provides educational opportunities<br />
and leadership training that impacts instruction,<br />
learning, student achievement, productivity<br />
and efficiency for 207,000 students in<br />
school systems throughout Oakland County.<br />
The Oakland Schools service area encompasses<br />
28 public school districts, 28 public school<br />
academies, 91 nonpublic schools and four<br />
technical campuses, along with several K-12<br />
virtual learning options. Through researchbased<br />
development and effective delivery and<br />
support of innovative, high-quality instructional<br />
products and services, Oakland Schools<br />
is committed to improving student achievement,<br />
serving the diverse needs of Oakland<br />
County schools and increasing efficiencies for<br />
the schools we serve. This commitment to<br />
regional services and collaboration across Oakland<br />
County helps local schools and districts<br />
to operate more efficiently and economically,<br />
saving valuable dollars that can best be used<br />
in the classroom for instruction.<br />
Strong relationships and partnerships help<br />
form the foundation of many of our services.<br />
Sharing in the responsibility of educating<br />
Oakland County youth are successful local<br />
businesses, community agencies and Oakland<br />
County government. These combined forces<br />
contribute vital mentorship and global workforce<br />
experiences to Oakland County students<br />
under an educational umbrella that reinforces<br />
a high level of academic achievement and college<br />
and career readiness.<br />
This school and community movement<br />
is producing strong results. All of Oakland<br />
County’s school districts have been trending<br />
up in student achievement and 80 percent<br />
of high school graduates in Oakland County<br />
enroll in institutions of higher learning; 80<br />
percent of those students earn a full year of<br />
college credit in their freshman year. Public<br />
education is working in Oakland County!<br />
Comprehensive Academic Programs<br />
and Advanced Learning Options<br />
Oakland County districts offer elementary<br />
education, secondary education, preschool,<br />
post-high school programs, honors programs,<br />
alternative education and accommodations for<br />
students receiving special education programs<br />
and services. Districts also offer a full spectrum<br />
of fine arts programs, extracurricular and<br />
co-curricular opportunities such as art, multiple<br />
world languages, dance, theater, robotics,<br />
student government, sports, debate and several<br />
music options.<br />
A growing number of International Baccalaureate<br />
programs serve schools throughout<br />
Oakland County. In addition, several districts<br />
operate IB programs at both the middle school<br />
and elementary school levels.<br />
