Regional Approach Gets Results
As a premier regional service agency, Oakland
Schools provides educational opportunities
and leadership training that impacts instruction,
learning, student achievement, productivity
and efficiency for 207,000 students in
school systems throughout Oakland County.
The Oakland Schools service area encompasses
28 public school districts, 28 public school
academies, 91 nonpublic schools and four
technical campuses, along with several K-12
virtual learning options. Through researchbased
development and effective delivery and
support of innovative, high-quality instructional
products and services, Oakland Schools
is committed to improving student achievement,
serving the diverse needs of Oakland
County schools and increasing efficiencies for
the schools we serve. This commitment to
regional services and collaboration across Oakland
County helps local schools and districts
to operate more efficiently and economically,
saving valuable dollars that can best be used
in the classroom for instruction.
Strong relationships and partnerships help
form the foundation of many of our services.
Sharing in the responsibility of educating
Oakland County youth are successful local
businesses, community agencies and Oakland
County government. These combined forces
contribute vital mentorship and global workforce
experiences to Oakland County students
under an educational umbrella that reinforces
a high level of academic achievement and college
and career readiness.
This school and community movement
is producing strong results. All of Oakland
County’s school districts have been trending
up in student achievement and 80 percent
of high school graduates in Oakland County
enroll in institutions of higher learning; 80
percent of those students earn a full year of
college credit in their freshman year. Public
education is working in Oakland County!
Comprehensive Academic Programs
and Advanced Learning Options
Oakland County districts offer elementary
education, secondary education, preschool,
post-high school programs, honors programs,
alternative education and accommodations for
students receiving special education programs
and services. Districts also offer a full spectrum
of fine arts programs, extracurricular and
co-curricular opportunities such as art, multiple
world languages, dance, theater, robotics,
student government, sports, debate and several
music options.
A growing number of International Baccalaureate
programs serve schools throughout
Oakland County. In addition, several districts
operate IB programs at both the middle school
and elementary school levels.
