Clawson is best described as a community
of neighbors that offers a friendly, smalltown
atmosphere where all amenities are
within walking distance in our 2.2-squaremile
community. We work together to be
a desirable place to live, work, and raise a
family. We enjoy great places to eat and the
ability to shop locally. Our signature events
are annual traditions and our many programs
help enrich daily living. We collaborate with
local civic groups, businesses, and volunteers
to make Clawson a place to stay and play.
A GREAT PLACE FOR FAMILIES
Residents enjoy the ability to walk or
bike to the library, community center,
historical museum, senior center, shops,
parks, and schools. Clawson continues
to receive recognition as a Tree City
USA and demonstrates a commitment
to environmental sustainability. Our
quiet tree-lined residential blocks offer
affordable homes with styles ranging from
historic to the latest in design. Our school
district demonstrates leading and learning
with higher test scores and smaller class
sizes.
A community-driven movement has helped
bring art and cultural programs to the city
including: a free concert by the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra sponsored by DTE
Energy Foundation; Clawson Art in the Park;
the “Balloon Thoughts” art installation
project; an Awesome Clawson cable show
by our youth; and a Clawson Community
Garden. With these new events, Clawson
continues to grow and be a perfect place to
raise a family.
A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT Visitors are
drawn to our weekly, seasonal outdoor
Farmers Market through the summer and
an indoor market during the winter. Annual
events include: our acclaimed 4th of July
celebration; Fall Festival; Lions Club Car
Show; Cinema in the Street; and many
more. These events contribute to the
appeal of Clawson being a destination for
entertainment and fun.
A GREAT DOWNTOWN Clawson’s awardwinning
dining and shopping destination
spots enjoy national and regional
reputations. Easy access from I-75, I-696,
and the Woodward corridor places downtown
Clawson nearly 20 minutes from anywhere in
metro Detroit. Abundant free parking, bricklined
sidewalks, and outdoor cafes invite
