Cubism<br />
I picture you on my bed,<br />
that water-faucet face of yours<br />
dripping<br />
with self-pity.<br />
I can’t remember your eyes,<br />
though I know we argued<br />
about their color.<br />
I can’t remember<br />
the feel of your hands<br />
on the small of my back<br />
or the sound of your voice<br />
with another<br />
excuse.<br />
These things were mine once.<br />
I thought I would carry them whole.<br />
Yet here I am,<br />
seven years on<br />
with only<br />
the<br />
drip<br />
drip<br />
drip<br />
of a<br />
man<br />
to haunt me.
