possession of the animal shall have a lien thereon for his care, keeping, medical<br />

attention <strong>and</strong> expenses of notice. Whenever in the opinion of a police officer, an<br />

animal is hopelessly injured or diseased so as to be beyond the probability of<br />

recovery, such police officer may kill such animal.<br />

9.0311 ANIMAL FECES<br />

Any person owning or having control of any dog, cat, or other animal shall clean up<br />

the feces of such animal immediately <strong>and</strong> dispose of it in a sanitary manner, <strong>and</strong> shall<br />

carry the appropriate equipment to do so when on property, public or private, not<br />

owned or controlled by such person. No animal feces shall be permitted to remain<br />

exposed upon any public or private property.<br />

9.0312 DOGS AND CATS RESTRICTED ON CEMETERIES<br />

Dogs <strong>and</strong> cats are prohibited from being in cemeteries. Every dog specially trained to<br />

lead blind persons shall be exempt from this Section.<br />

9.0313 KENNELS<br />

The construction or maintenance of a public kennel for the housing of dogs, cats, or<br />

other pet animals, except pet stores, is forbidden within the City of Marinette.<br />

9.0314 RECORDS REQUIRED BY PET SHOPS<br />

It shall be unlawful for any person operating a pet shop or other persons selling the<br />

mammalian pets described in this Chapter, within the City of Marinette, to sell or<br />

place such animals without first preparing accurate <strong>and</strong> complete records of such sale;<br />

such records are deemed necessary in tracing the location <strong>and</strong> movement of animals<br />

suspected of rabies exposure.<br />

9.0315 KEEPING OF BEES PROHIBITED<br />

9.0316 SKUNKS<br />

No bees or hive of bees shall be kept or allowed to remain in the open upon private<br />

property within the City of Marinette.<br />

The Poundmaster may catch, take up, impound in a suitable place, or destroy any<br />

skunk constituting a nuisance or found running at large in the City. When any resident<br />

of the City pays a nonrefundable fee of Ten Dollars ($10.00) to the City Poundmaster,<br />

for the purpose of having the Poundmaster catch, take up, impound, or destroy a skunk<br />

located on said resident's private real estate or premises, the Poundmaster shall make<br />

reasonable attempts to catch or destroy said animal <strong>and</strong> shall receive a fee of Ten<br />

Dollars ($10.00) if said animal is caught or destroyed; provided, however, that in<br />

paying said Ten Dollar ($10.00) fee to the City, said resident agrees that neither the<br />

City nor its Poundmaster shall be liable to any person for damage to persons or<br />

property incidental to catching, removing, or destroying any skunks.<br />
