1 Improved infrastructure and<br />
land-use planning, coordination<br />
and integration<br />
An <strong>Infrastructure</strong> Portfolio Office (IPO) will be<br />
established to plan and coordinate infrastructure,<br />
and integrate the links between economic, regional<br />
and infrastructure planning. The IPO will be located<br />
within the Department of <strong>Infrastructure</strong>, Local<br />
Government and <strong>Plan</strong>ning and will undertake a<br />
program management function, including the<br />
coordination of infrastructure projects across<br />
government. Its functions will include:<br />
a broad infrastructure coordination and<br />
alignment role<br />
monitoring implementation of the SIP<br />
monitoring and reporting on the implementation<br />
of major infrastructure projects and programs<br />
integrating the development of key strategic<br />
infrastructure assessments, in partnership<br />
with delivery agencies, to inform future<br />
regional plans:<br />
Queensland future water security strategy<br />
Queensland digital infrastructure plan<br />
Queensland transport strategy<br />
Queensland energy policy framework<br />
Social infrastructure strategy<br />
driving infrastructure innovation and bestpractice<br />
within government<br />
coordinating infrastructure engagement,<br />
taskforces and external expertise<br />
provide data analytics and modelling capability<br />
to improve infrastructure demand forecasting.<br />
The IPO’s coordination and integration functions<br />
will include:<br />
integrating regional land-use plans with<br />
regional transport plans and economic plans,<br />
commencing with SEQ and North Queensland<br />
overseeing a program of infrastructure<br />
coordination plans for SEQ local government<br />
areas to inform the SEQ regional plan<br />
coordinating strategic infrastructure corridor<br />
plans focused on the long-term transport<br />
needs for:<br />
Queensland coast from Brisbane to Cairns<br />
the Surat Basin<br />
Mount Isa to Townsville<br />
Central Queensland<br />
key SEQ transport corridors.<br />
2 Regional planning committees<br />
Enhance the role of regional planning committees<br />
to oversee the alignment of state and local<br />
government infrastructure priorities.<br />
