Cristina Queirós holds a graduation and a PhD<br />
in Psychology, and she is Professor at the Faculty<br />
of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the<br />
University of Porto, Portugal; Co-director of the<br />
Psychosocial Rehabilitation Lab, and Coordinator<br />
of the Master in Psychology of Catastrophe and<br />
Trauma. Her research interest are the emotional<br />
states elicited by the environment and its impact<br />
on overall quality of life, especially stress elicited<br />
by modern lifestyles (e.g. work-family conflict,<br />
road rage), occupational stress (burnout) across<br />
professional activities with emotional high<br />
demands, such as health workers, fire-fighters,<br />
teachers, police officers and first responders on<br />
crises/disasters. She supervised PhD and Master<br />
students from police forces, and published<br />
several papers and books, mostly related with<br />
stress, burnout and emotional recognition in<br />
people with mental diseases. She participates<br />
on research about police’ stress and collaborates<br />
with Brazil and Spain to intercultural studies<br />
about burnout. Since 2009 she collaborates<br />
with the Psychology Unit of National Direction<br />
of the Portuguese National Police, doing<br />
research about police topics as co-author with<br />
the psychologists from this unit, and preparing<br />
courses related with crisis intervention and<br />
stress management during critical incidents.<br />
Biographical details<br />
Susana Rodrigues, holds a Master in Clinical and<br />
Health Psychology and she is currently a PhD<br />
researcher at the Faculty of Psychology and<br />
Educational Sciences at the University of Porto,<br />
Portugal. Susana was awarded a PhD bursary in<br />
the SCOPE project and her research investigates<br />
stress, coping and engagement among<br />
Portuguese police officers contemplating an<br />
interdisciplinary approach. Susana has also<br />
significant experience in applied work gained<br />
through being an Army officer and Clinical<br />
Psychologist among the Military Forces in<br />
Portugal. Susana has presented her work<br />
in national and international peer reviewed<br />
conferences in the area of Psychology and she<br />
is a Chartered Psychologist with Ordem de<br />
Psicologos, Portugal.<br />
